Solar Hot Water
Solar Site Assessment
The first step with any solar project is to evaluate the amount of sun available at the site. Things like trees, neighboring buildings and the orientation of the buildings on the site will play a role in determining the size of the solar hot water system. Once we know how much sun is available we complete a detailed assessment of hot water usage and other site-specific variables.
With this information we create a project proposal that includes:
- the cost of your new system
- available rebates, incentives and financing options
- our forecasted return on your investment.
Each system is unique and reflects the conditions at the site and the needs of the occupants.
Our Systems: Simple, Robust and Tested by Us!
Our systems are simple. David believes that “solve it simple” is a good mantra for the 21st century. In most situations we’ll recommend that the solar system becomes the hot water system. We don’t usually tie-in to existing boilers and we don’t add fossil fuel dependent on-demand hot water heaters. In short we don’t sell “solar preheated” hot water systems, because you don’t need such a system.
We sell elegantly designed, reliable and robust stand-alone solar hot water systems that meet your family’s hot water demands without the need for fossil fuels.
We use local suppliers and local trades-people which means that you are buying local. The heart and brain of our system is the Purist Energy Solar Pumping Station. This device is designed and made in Maine! Let’s say that again…designed and made in Maine! We utilize Maine Green Building Supply in Portland for most of our components and love working with Steve, Jennifer, and Jason. Our local and independent plumber, Ryan, is also solar certified by the State of Maine.
We live with what we do for a living. Our own system has been running wonderfully since its installation (again, see the blog for more details on our system). Your system will look a lot like ours but will be customized for your needs.
