Super Low Flow Showerhead (Half a gallon a minute!)
July 8, 2009
Hey everyone, just take short, lukewarm showers for the rest of your life and all will be OK. Not exactly a great sales pitch for switching to solar hot water. Many have already switched to 1.8 or 1.5 gallon per hour shower heads. These do help save water and hot water but to really stretch your solar heated water you should try this shower head: http://www.aquahelix.net/ We use one here at our home and you can see the difference on the tank temperature data curves when I switch between this one and an old 2.5 gallon per hour shower head. It is remarkable how little water you use even for a long 10 minute shower (or longer on those days when you need to treat yourself to a spa-like experience)… Our two year old doesn’t like this shower head (it can be a little intense) so we switch to an older shower head for him while we remodel our downstairs bathroom where a 1.5 gallon shower head will be installed. I think if you have two showers in your home it makes sense to have a couple of shower options and one of them should be the Aqua Helix.
